04-OCTOBER-2024 - DISCOVERING YOUR POTENTIAL

THE MAIN THEME: WHAT DO I HAVE?

TITLE: DISCOVERING YOUR POTENTIAL

The bible verse for today’s devotional is: Jeremiah 29:11 (NIV)
“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”

Devotional:
Every one of us has been created with unique gifts, talents, and abilities. Sometimes, these potentials are hidden deep within us, waiting to be discovered. It’s like having a treasure buried in your backyard; unless you dig, you’ll never know what’s there. God has already placed within you the seeds of greatness. However, discovering these potentials requires self-awareness, prayer, and sometimes, stepping out of your comfort zone.

A real-life story is that of Thomas Edison, who was labelled as "unfit for school" by his teachers. Despite this, he went on to become one of the greatest inventors in history. Edison discovered his potential not by focusing on what others said about him, but by continuously exploring his interests and passions.

Here are a few reflective questions:

  1. What are some things I am naturally good at?
  2. Have I asked God to help me discover the gifts He has placed within me?
  3. What steps can I take this week to explore a potential talent or interest?

 Let Us Pray:
Dear God, thank You for creating me with unique potentials. Help me to discover the gifts and talents You have placed within me. Give me the courage to explore new things and to see myself through Your eyes. Amen.

Please say these words of affirmation. Say them, mean them, own them and live them.

  • I know what I have
  • I am created by God with unique talents and abilities.
  • I am committed to discovering the potential He has placed within me.

Have fun exploring your potential today and see you tomorrow.

03-OCTOBER-2024 - STRENGTH IN YOUR WEAKNESS

THE MAIN THEME: WHAT DO I HAVE?

TITLE: STRENGTH IN YOUR WEAKNESS

Our bible verse for today’s devotional is: 2 Corinthians 12:9 (NIV)

"But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me."

Devotional

Weakness is not something we usually like to talk about. In a world that values strength, talent, and success, admitting our weaknesses can feel like admitting defeat. But what if your weaknesses were actually an opportunity for God to show His strength in your life? In a world that says you need to be perfect; God says His power is made perfect in your weakness.

Amanda always felt like she wasn’t good enough. She struggled with anxiety and felt overwhelmed by the pressures of school, friendships, and expectations. She often compared herself to others and felt she didn’t measure up. One day, during a youth group meeting, the leader talked about how God uses our weaknesses to show His strength. Amanda was intrigued but unsure if it applied to her.

A few weeks later, Amanda’s youth leader asked if she would share her story with the group. At first, she hesitated. What could she possibly share that would be helpful? She felt too weak, too imperfect. But after praying about it, she decided to be honest about her struggles with anxiety and feelings of inadequacy. To her surprise, her story resonated with many others in the group. They were encouraged by her honesty. At that moment, Amanda realized that God had used her weakness to strengthen others. Her struggles weren’t a barrier to God’s work—they were a platform for it.

We all have weaknesses, areas in our lives where we feel inadequate or struggle. But God doesn’t see our weaknesses the way we do. Instead of being a reason for shame, our weaknesses can be a powerful reminder of our need for God and His grace.

God’s strength shines the brightest in our weaknesses. When we admit that we can’t do it on our own, we make room for God to step in and do what only He can do. It’s not about pretending to be strong when we’re not; it’s about letting God’s strength work through us in those weak areas.

This week, think about an area in your life where you feel weak or inadequate. Instead of hiding it or pretending it’s not there, bring it to God in prayer. Ask Him to show His strength in your weakness. Then, consider sharing your struggle with a trusted friend or mentor. You might be surprised at how God uses your story to encourage others.

Your weaknesses don’t disqualify you from God’s love or His plans for your life. Instead, they provide a powerful opportunity for you to experience His strength and grace. Remember, it’s not about being perfect; it’s about letting God’s perfect power work through your imperfections. When you are weak, He is strong.

Here are a few reflective Questions:

  1. What are some areas in my life where I feel weak or inadequate? How do these areas make me feel?
  2. Why do I think God allows me to experience weaknesses? What might He want to teach me through them?
  3. How does the promise of God’s power being made perfect in weakness change my perspective on my own struggles?

 Let Us Pray:

Dear God, thank you for loving me even in my weaknesses. Help me to see that my weaknesses are not something to be ashamed of, but an opportunity for Your strength to shine through. Amen.

Please say these words of affirmation. Say them, mean them, own them and live them.

  • I know what I have
  • God's strength is made perfect in my weakness.
  • In my weakness, I find God's grace and power.
  • I don't have to be perfect; God's power works through my imperfections and I trust God to turn my weaknesses into opportunities for His glory.

Do have a beautiful day. See you tomorrow.

02-OCTOBER-2024 - YOUR SPIRITUAL TOOLBOX - WHAT TO ADD TO YOUR FAITH

THE MAIN THEME: WHAT DO I HAVE?

TITLE: YOUR SPIRITUAL TOOLBOX: WHAT TO ADD TO YOUR FAITH

Our bible verse for today’s devotional is: 2 Peter 1:5-7 (NIV)

"For this very reason, make every effort to add to your faith goodness; and to goodness, knowledge; and to knowledge, self-control; and to self-control, perseverance; and to perseverance, godliness; and to godliness, mutual affection; and to mutual affection, love."

 Devotional:

It is usually said that a house is as strong as its foundation. Faith is like the foundation of a house. It is essential, but it’s only the beginning. Once you have a solid foundation, you start building on it, adding what you need to make it strong and complete. In the same way, your faith is the foundation of your spiritual life. But God calls us to add to our faith, like filling a toolbox with the right tools to help us grow and live out our faith every day.

Imagine a builder who only has one tool, a hammer. That hammer is essential, but it won’t be enough to build a house. The builder needs a variety of tools to get the job done: a saw, a tape measure, a leveller, and more. Similarly, your faith is crucial, but to build a strong and vibrant spiritual life, you need to add other qualities to it. God wants us to add to our faith other virtues like goodness, knowledge, and self-control.

Just like a builder needs more than a hammer, you need more than just faith to live a strong, effective Christian life. The Bible tells us what to add to our faith: goodness, knowledge, self-control, perseverance, godliness, mutual affection, and love.  These qualities are like tools in your spiritual toolbox, helping you to build a life that reflects Christ. Let us take a look at them

  1. Goodness: the quality of being good includes a firm and persistent resistance of all moral evil and the choosing of all moral good.
  2. Knowledge: means growing in your understanding of God’s Word and His will for your life.
  3. Self-control: helps you make wise choices and resist temptation.
  4. Perseverance gives you the strength to keep going, even when things get tough.
  5. Godliness is about living in a way that pleases God and shows reverence for Him.
  6. Mutual affection: loving and caring for others, especially fellow believers.
  7. Love: the ultimate expression of God’s character and should be at the center of everything you do.

By adding these spiritual tools to your faith, you’ll be better equipped to face life’s challenges and live a life that reflects the character of Christ. Start building today and watch how God strengthens your spiritual life!

Here are a few reflective questions

  1. What does faith mean to me, and how has it shaped my relationship with God?
  2. What steps can I take this week to start adding to my faith and building a more complete spiritual life?

 Let Us Pray::

Dear God, thank You for the gift of faith. Help me to grow in my faith by adding these important qualities to my spiritual toolbox. Give me the desire and strength to develop goodness, knowledge, self-control, perseverance, godliness, mutual affection, and love in my life. Guide me as I seek to live out my faith in a way that honors You and helps others. Amen.

 Please say these words of affirmation. Say them, mean them, own them and live them;

  • I know what I have
  • With God’s help, I am growing in goodness, knowledge, self-control, perseverance, godliness and love.

Catch you tomorrow but till then, have a faith filled day spiced with other beautiful virtues..

01-OCTOBER-2024 - AWAKENING THE GIANT WITHIN - THE STORY OF GIDEON

THE MAIN THEME: WHAT DO I HAVE?

TITLE:  AWAKENING THE GIANT WITHIN: THE STORY OF GIDEON

The bible verse for today’s devotional is: Judges 6:12 (NIV)

"The Lord is with you, mighty warrior."

Devotional:

Within each of us lies untapped potential—a giant waiting to be awakened. This potential is about fulfilling the purpose for which God created us. The power of God is at work within us, far greater than anything we could imagine. When we allow this power to flow freely through our lives, we can accomplish things beyond our wildest dreams.

Gideon’s story is a powerful reminder of how God sees us differently than we see ourselves. When we first meet Gideon in the Bible, he is hiding in a winepress, filled with fear and doubt. But when the angel of the Lord appears to him, he greets Gideon with words that seem almost ironic: “The Lord is with you, mighty warrior.”

At that moment, Gideon didn’t feel like a mighty warrior. He felt small, insignificant, and unsure of himself. Yet God saw beyond Gideon’s fear and called out the giant within him. God knew the potential that lay dormant inside Gideon, and He was ready to awaken it.

Gideon’s journey from fear to faith was not instantaneous, but with God’s guidance, he stepped into his role as a leader and deliverer for Israel.

No matter how inadequate we may feel, God sees the greatness within us. He knows the giant within each of us, and He is calling us to awaken that potential, to rise above our fears, and to step into the roles He has prepared for us.

Here are a few reflective questions:

  1. Like Gideon, are there areas in my life where I feel inadequate or fearful?
  2. How do I think God sees me, compared to how I see myself?
  3. What steps can I take to embrace the potential God has placed within me, even if it feels challenging?

LET US PRAY:

Heavenly Father, thank You for seeing the giant within me, even when I feel small and afraid. Like Gideon, I often doubt my abilities and question my worth, but I trust in Your vision for my life. Help me to step out in faith, to overcome my fears, and to embrace the potential You have placed within me. Amen.

Please say these words of affirmation. Say them, mean them, own them, and live them:

  • I know what I have.
  • I am a mighty warrior in God’s eyes.
  • I trust in God’s vision for my life, even when I feel inadequate.
  • I will overcome my fears and step into my God-given potential.

Go in thy might today, precious mighty one. Take good care of yourself and see you tomorrow!

30-SEPTEMBER-2024 - A JOURNEY TO DESTINY

THE MAIN THEME; WHERE AM I HEADED TO?

TITLE: A JOURNEY TO DESTINY

The bible verse for today’s devotional is: Jeremiah 29:11

"For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future."

Devotional:

"Embracing the journey to our destiny means being open to unexpected twists, turns, and growth opportunities. Joseph's story in the Bible shows us that faith, perseverance, and trust in God's plan are essential for navigating life's challenges. Despite being sold into slavery and facing false accusations, Joseph remained steadfast, using his gifts and staying true to his values. His journey ultimately led him to a powerful position in Egypt, where he saved countless lives and fulfilled his destiny.

Joseph's story teaches us that:

- God is always working behind the scenes, even when the path ahead is unclear

- Faith, patience, and hope can help us navigate life's ups and downs

- Our challenges can become opportunities for growth and purpose

- God is guiding us toward a future filled with promise and fulfilment.

As we journey toward our own destiny, let Joseph's story inspire us to trust in God's plan, stay faithful, and persevere through challenges. With God leading the way, we can confidently move forward, knowing that our lives are being woven into a greater purpose."

Here are a few reflective questions:

  1. What dreams and aspirations do you feel God has placed in your heart? How do you believe He is leading you toward your destiny?
  2. How do you respond to setbacks or challenges on your journey? What lessons can you learn from these experiences?

LET US PRAY:
Lord, lead me on my journey to fulfil my destiny. Grant me patience and faith to trust in Your timing and purpose. Strengthen me to overcome challenges and remain faithful to Your plan. Thank You for guiding me every step of the way. Amen

Please say these words of affirmation: Say them mean, own them and live them:

  • I know where I am headed.
  • I will face obstacles with courage and faith, knowing that God is guiding me every step of the way.
  • I believe in God’s timing for my destiny.

I wish you a purposeful day. See you tomorrow.
