30-JULY-2024 - BE-YOU-TI-FUL

TITLE: BE-YOU-TI-FUL

The bible verses for today’s devotional are:: i. Psalm 139:14: ii. Genesis 1:27 (NIV)

  1. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.
  2. "So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them."

Devotional

Let me tell you the story of Titali, a beautiful butterfly. Titali struggled to embrace her wings. She thought they were not beautiful enough!  She envied the vibrant colours and patterns of her friends and felt dull and plain in comparison. One day, a wise old owl approached her and said, ' Titali, your wings may not be the most colourful, but they are unique, strong and resilient. They have carried you through storms and brought you to where you are today. Your beauty lies not in your outward appearance, but in your story, your strength, and your resilience, in YOU”

From that day, Titali spread her wings with pride and no longer compared herself to others. She realised that her beauty was not defined by external standards, but by the beauty of her own story.

Here are a few reflective questions:

- What unique qualities or talents do I possess that make me feel truly alive and authentic?

-  How have societal expectations or pressures influenced my self-image or sense of worth?

- What steps can you take to cultivate self-love and acceptance, embracing your true identity and worth?

-   How can I align my thoughts with God's truth when faced with negative self-talk or doubts?

Please say these words of affirmation. Say them, mean them, own them and live them:

"I am fearfully and wonderfully made. My uniqueness is a gift to the world.

I know I am not perfect, no human being is. I will embrace my imperfection as opportunities for growth and self-discovery.

Do have a day as beautiful as you. Take good care of yourself and see you tomorrow.

29-JULY-2024 - THE PRINCE WHO COULD NOT BE TEMPTED

TITLE: THE PRINCE WHO COULD NOT BE TEMPTED.

The bible verse for today’s devotional is: 1 Peter 2:9 (NIV)

But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God's special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light.

Devotional:

King Louis XVI of France’s son was kidnapped to a place where he was exposed to all sorts of filthy and vile things. Finally, after intensive temptation, they asked him why he had not submitted himself to these things; why he had not partaken of all the things presented to him. He responded, “I cannot do what you ask for. I was born to be a king”.

Do you know who you are? Do you know what and how you are to think, talk and do things? You are Kings and Queens of God’s Kingdom. You are royalty. We are royals.

As royalty, we must always think of our heritage in order to guide our thoughts, words and actions.

Here are a few reflective questions:

 - Who is a royalty?

- What is required of me as royalty, a child of God?

- How can I use my royal authority to make a positive impact in my world?

Let us pray:

Dear God, help me to realise I am royalty. Help me Lord, to overcome all forms of temptation in Jesus name.

Please say these words of affirmation. Say them, mean them, own them and live them:

  • I am a King from a royal lineage, and I conduct myself in a manner befitting royalty.
  • My thoughts, words and actions reflect the nobility and grace of my royal lineage.

Do have a beautiful day. Take good care of yourself and see you tomorrow.

28-JULY-2024 - HOW DO I GET TO KNOW WHO I AM_ MY TRUE IDENTITY

TITLE: HOW DO I GET TO KNOW WHO I AM; MY TRUE IDENTITY

The bible verse for today’s devotional is: Psalm 139:1-4 (NIV)

"O Lord, you have searched me and known me. You know when I sit and when I rise; you perceive my thoughts from afar. You discern my going out and my lying down; you are familiar with all my ways. Before a word is on my tongue you, Lord, know it completely."

Devotional:

Getting to know who you are is a journey that is unique to you alone. Be patient and kind to yourself along the way. Your identity is not what people say you are, social media likes, your grades, or peer approval. It is who you say you are.

How do you get to know what to say about who you are?

- Get to know your strengths and weaknesses.

- Get to know what makes you happy and fulfilled; your likes and dislikes.

- Get to know your interest and passion.

- Get to know the values and beliefs you hold dear.

- Get to do personality assessments.

The good news, however, is that God already knows you fully and loves you unconditionally. He created you with a unique purpose and identity. Get to know and understand this path, and assuredly, you will not miss it in life.

Here is a reflective question:

-     Can I do self reflection to get to know myself?

Let us pray:

Dear God, help me to discover my true identity in You. Reveal to me my strengths, passions, and purposes. Give me the courage to be my authentic self and live a life that honours You. Amen.

Please say these words of affirmation. Say them, mean them, own them and live them:

I know who I am. I will not be anyone else. I embrace my true identity and live confidently in God.

Do have a fulfilling day. Take good care of yourself and see you tomorrow.

27-JULY-2024 - PHOTOCOPIES NEVER GET TO FULFIL DESTINY

TITLE: PHOTOCOPIES NEVER GET TO FULFIL DESTINY.

The bible verse for today’s devotional is: Roman 12 4-5 (NIV)

"For just as each of us has one body with many members, and these members do not all have the same function, so in Christ we, though many, form one body, and each member belongs to all the others”.

 Devotional:

If we try to be like someone else, we are a photocopy.  Why would anyone try to be like someone else? It is because anyone who tries to be like someone else does not know or appreciate what they have inside of them.

Photocopying destroys the originality of a thing or person. We are all unique and have our unique personalities and functions.

God created each of us uniquely, with our own strengths, talents, and purposes.

If you are not yourself, you are short-changing yourself and denying the world the beauty that resides in YOU.

Here are a few reflective questions:

- Is there someone I am trying to copy? Why?

- What makes me unique and original?

- What good works has God prepared for me to do?

Let us pray:

Dear God, help me to appreciate and embrace my authenticity and reject the pressure to conform to others' expectations.

Please say these words of affirmation. Say them, mean them, own them and live them:

I am unique. I will be authentic. I will not deny the world my own beauty.

Do have a cheerful day. Take good care of yourself and see you tomorrow.

26-JULY-2024 - TO WHOM AM I ACCOUNTABLE

TITLE:TO WHOM AM I ACCOUNTABLE?

The bible verses for today’s devotional are: i. Romans 14:12 ii. Gen 39:9 (NIV)

“So then, each of us will give an account of ourselves to God”

“No one is greater in this house than I. My Master has withheld nothing from me except you because you are his wife. How then could I do such a wicked thing and sin against God?”

Devotional:

As teenagers, you often face pressures from your peers, family, and society as Joseph did from his master’s wife. Joseph, however, did not only know himself, but he also knew he was accountable to someone greater than his earthly boss whom he respected so much.

The Bible reminds you that you are accountable to God alone. Your ultimate responsibility is to live a life that honours Him, not to please yourselves nor others. This means making choices that align with His values and principles, even when it's hard or unpopular.

Here are a few reflective questions:

- Am I living to please others or to honour God?

- Can anything or anyone lure me to forget who I am accountable to?

- What changes can I make to prioritize my accountability to God?

Let us pray:

Dear God, help me to remember that I am accountable to You alone in all situations however easy or difficult.

Thank You for being a God who loves and guides me. Amen.

Please say these words of affirmation. Say them, mean them, own them and live them:

I will always acknowledge and honour God in all I say and do.

Do have a pleasant day. Take good care of yourself and see you tomorrow.
