27-JANUARY-2025 - EVERYONE MATTERS

THE MAIN THEME: WHO DO I GO WITH?

TITLE: EVERYONE MATTERS

The bible verse for today’s devotional is: Philippians 2:3 (NIV)

"Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility, value others above yourselves."

Devotional:
In our journey through life, it’s tempting to prioritize relationships that seem beneficial to us while neglecting or overlooking others. But God’s word reminds us that everyone matters. Each person we encounter is created in God’s image, with inherent worth and value.

Jesus showed us the ultimate example of valuing others, whether it was dining with sinners, healing the outcasts, or washing His disciples' feet. Following His example, we are called to embrace humility, recognize the value in others, and extend love, kindness, and respect to all.

This doesn’t mean everyone will walk closely with us on our journey, but it does mean acknowledging their importance. When we treat others as significant, we reflect Christ’s love and invite His grace into our relationships.

Here are a few reflective questions:

  • Am I treating everyone I encounter as someone valuable to God?
  • How can I extend love and kindness to someone I might have overlooked?
  • Do I prioritize humility in my interactions, or am I motivated by selfish ambition?

Let Us Pray:
Lord Jesus, thank You for teaching me that there is value in every person. Help me to see others as You see them—with love, kindness, and respect. Teach me to walk in humility, honoring the worth of everyone I encounter. Let my life be a reflection of Your love and grace. Amen.

Please say these words of affirmation after me. Say them, mean them, own them and live them:

  • I honor and value every person God places in my path.
  • I walk in humility, extending love and kindness to all.
  • I reflect God’s grace in my relationships and interactions.
  • I am a vessel of Christ’s love to the world around me.

Do have a fulfilling day. Take good care of yourself and see you tomorrow!

26-JANUARY-2025 - THE FOUR VITAL RELATIONSHIP KEYS

THE MAIN THEME: WHO DO I GO WITH?

TITLE: THE FOUR VITAL RELATIONSHIP KEYS

The bible verse for today’s devotional is: Romans 15:5 ((NIV)

May the God who gives endurance and encouragement give you the same attitude of mind toward each other that Christ Jesus had,

Devotional:

Man is a relational being - God planned it that way. In Genesis, we are told that God said it was not good for Adam to be alone (Genesis 2:18) so he created Eve - someone like Adam, with whom he could share his life.

Our lives revolve around people- our families, our friends, our colleagues, etc. While it is true that being in relationships is God’s idea for us to have the best experience of life, it is not always easy to maintain these relationships. Today, we will look at 4 vital relationship keys that make the wheel of relationships run a bit smoothly.

  1. Effective communication: We should practice open, honest but respectful communication. When you listen to others, listen actively, hear what they are saying, rather than listening just to respond to what they said.
  2. Trust: be consistent, reliable and transparent in your relationships.
  3. Mutual respect: acknowledge and value others’ opinions, feelings and boundaries.
  4. Empathy and understanding: try to understand others’ perspectives without being judgmental. It is okay if people have a different opinion to yours, show compassion even when you disagree and know that others don’t need to be wrong so that you are right- we can both be right.

These simple tips will work with your family members, your friends or even in work settings. Getting the best out of our relationships is a two-way street, when we invest in our relationships and give our best, we increase the chances of a more harmonious relationship. Will this always work? Perhaps not, as we cannot control how others respond to us; but if we do our best, chances are that we will have less turmoil in our relationships.

Here are a few reflective questions:

  •  How can I show kindness to someone I struggle to get along with?
  • What can I do today to improve my relationship with others?
  •  Is there a strained or broken relationship that I need to work on? What do I need to do?
  •  What boundaries can I set to ensure others don’t

 Let Us Pray:

Dear God, I thank you for your love that makes a difference in me. Help me extend that same love to others in Jesus’ name. Amen.

Please say these words of affirmation after me. Say them, mean them, own them and live them:

  • I will be intentional about all my relationships.
  • I choose to love others as God loves me.
  • I will listen actively and respond with understanding and grace.
  • I will live by the golden rule- relating with others as I desire them to relate to me.

Have a beautiful day lovelies. See you tomorrow.

25-JANUARY-2025 - FINDING YOUR TRIBE

THE MAIN THEME: WHO DO I GO WITH?

TITLE: FINDING YOUR TRIBE

The bible verse for today’s devotional is: Ecclesiastes 4:9-10 (NIV)

Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their labour: If either of them falls down, one can help the other up. But pity anyone who falls and has no one to help them up.

Devotional:

Have you ever felt out of place or like you don’t quite belong?

It’s a common feeling, especially when you're growing up and trying to figure out where you fit in. That’s where finding your "tribe" comes in. Your tribe is the group of people who love you, support you, and help you become the best version of yourself.

The bible teaches the importance of community and friendship.

Today's Bible reference reminds us that we aren’t meant to do life alone. We need people who will pick us up when we fall, encourage us when we are down, and celebrate our successes.

But finding your tribe isn’t just about finding friends who make you feel good. It’s about surrounding yourself with people who share your values, support your faith, and help you stay on track. These are the people who will walk with you through both the highs and the lows of life.

Finding the right tribe requires intentionality. By praying for the right friends and being open to new relationships that align with God’s purpose for your life, you can find your own tribe.

Here are a few reflective questions

  • What qualities do I look for in friends?
  • Are these qualities aligned with God’s vision for my life?
  • How can I be a better friend to the people in my tribe

Let us pray:

Lord, I thank You for the gift of friendship and community. Help me to find my tribe. Give me the wisdom to choose the right friends and the courage to let go of relationships that are not healthy in Jesus' name, Amen.

Please say these words of affirmation after me. Say them, mean them, own them and live them.

Dear Lovelies, do have a fulfilling day. Take good care of yourself and see you tomorrow!

24-JANUARY-2025 - WINNING WITH PEOPLE

THE MAIN THEME: WHO DO I GO WITH?

TITLE: WINNING WITH PEOPLE

The bible verse for today’s devotional is:  Proverb 27:17 (NIV)

As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another.

Devotional:

When you need to sharpen a knife, you must strike or grind it against another hard metal. The grinding motion smooths away imperfections and restores the knife to its original purpose. In the same way, a good relationship makes you a better person. A friend who sharpens you helps you fulfill your God -given purpose.

The constructive criticism of friends who speak the truth in love to you, can boost your spiritual growth.  You must also try to be such a friend who lovingly speaks truth to others.

In 1 Sam 23:16 the bible tells of the friendship between David and Jonathan and how Jonathan saved David from the fury of Saul’s malice.  David was able to navigate his journey in the wilderness because of the support and warmth of affection he received from men.

God sends gifts to us in the form of men to make our journey less stressful, bringing comfort and solutions in time of adversity. God uses men to give us direction, clarity, encouragement and motivate us for the task ahead.

Here are a few reflective questions:

  • Am I intentional with my relationships?
  • Are my friends helping me to see things from the perspective of growth and advancement
  • Is my current relationship helping me to win or are they a disadvantage to my process?

Let us pray

Dear Lord, thank you for your word to me today. I attract quality relationships that will sharpen your purpose in my life. I received grace to be the same to my friends in Jesus name. Amen

Please say these words of affirmation: Say them mean, own them and live them--

  • I am a true friend and I attract true friends to myself
  • I have and I enjoy the constructive criticism of my friends for they build me.

Have a beautiful day. Take good care of yourselves. I’ll see you tomorrow.

22-JANUARY-2025 - HANDLING BULLIES AND SNITCHES

THE MAIN THEME: WHO DO I GO WITH?

TITLE: HANDLING BULLIES AND SNITCHES

The bible verses for today’s devotional is:  Proverbs 20:19 and 2 Timothy 1:7 (NIV).

  • A gossip betrays a confidence; so avoid anyone who talks too much.
  • For the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid, but gives us power, love and self-discipline.

Devotional:

In our life’s journey, we meet and establish relationships with people. However, human behaviour is so dynamic and unpredictable, most times we do not have control over what people think or do, but it is our responsibility to regulate our own behaviour so as not to react but respond in ways that align with our values and purpose.

Our text for today tells us to disassociate from snitches Prov 20:19, they must not be part of the people we go with on our journey.  But how do we handle bullies because they can crop up at any given time? Our 2nd text reveals what we can do.  First recognize that you do not have to be afraid of the bully, because God has not given you the spirit of timidity.  Here are tips that you may find helpful;

  • Don't engage: Bullies thrive on attention, so don't give them what they want. Walk away or ignore them when they try to provoke you.
  • Stand up for yourself:  If the bullying continues, try to stand up for yourself in a calm and assertive way. Let the bully know that their behavior is unacceptable and that you won't tolerate it.
  • Tell someone:  If you're being bullied, it's important to tell someone you trust, such as a parent, teacher, or counselor. They can help you address the situation and protect you from further harm.
  • Practice self-care: Bullying can take an emotional toll, so it's important to practice self-care. Spend time with supportive friends and family, do things you enjoy, and seek professional help if needed.

Reconsider your circle of friends and intentionally create a supporting space where your potential and challenges will be nurtured. Focus on yourself.  Don't let snitches ruin your day or week. Focus on your own goals and achievements, and don't let their negativity bring you down.

Here are a few reflective questions:

  • Am I or anyone I know experiencing bullying; either verbal, physical, emotional abuse or torture from my circle of friends?
  • Am I constantly on edge that I might be snitched on by my friends?

Let us pray

Lord thank you for your Word to me today, today I believe in your power that is at work within me.  In the soundness of my mind, I disassociate myself from snitches and bullies in Jesus’s name. Amen

Please say these words of affirmation after me: Say them mean, own them and live them--

  • I am bold and courageous,
  • I have abundance of love to give myself and others,
  • I have a sound mind and I am disciplined.

Do enjoy your day. Take good care of yourself and I’ll see you tomorrow.
