20-DECEMBER-2024 - WHAT WILL BE WILL BE

THE MAIN THEME:  WHEN DO I GET THERE?

TITLE: WHAT WILL BE WILL BE

The bible verse for today’s devotional is:  Ephesians 6:13 & 14a (NIV)

Therefore put on the full armour of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. Stand firm then…

 Devotional:

The popular song “Que Sera Sera” meaning “what will be will be” speaks of the uncertainty of life and the future, encouraging man to resort to his fate of not being in control.

Our text for today clearly states that there are things we can do for ourselves, though God is in control, we are the one to put on the whole armour of God to be able to call the shots.  It is our sole responsibility to be prepared while waiting for opportunities.  It is our sole responsibility to study with all diligence while praying for success in our examinations.  It is in our place to speak up against injustice and inhuman practices while praying for God’s intervention in our nation.

Ezekial 22:30 “And I sought for a man among them, that should make up the hedge and stand in the gap before me for the land, that I should not destroy it: but I found none.  Most times when we resort to fate, we undermine God's capacity to save and deliver because we are the vessel he uses to operate here on earth.

Our bible text reminds us of the need to stand firm, when we have done all that is within our power.  It is only at this point that we can resort to fate singing “what will be will be” in good faith, trusting that all things work together for good to those who love God.  Proverbs 19:21 tell us that “Many are the plans in the mind of a man, but it is the purpose of the Lord that will stand.

We will not miss God’s time.

Here are a few reflective questions:

  • What are the subtle ways the enemy has used this common phrase “what will be will be” to make me lose my power?
  • What actions do I need to take to do all that is within my power and continue to stand?

 Let us pray

Dear  Lord, thank you for your word to me today, help me to believe in your power that is at work within me. I receive grace to stand after doing all that is within my power in Jesus name. Amen

Please say these words of affirmation: Say them mean, own them and live them:

  • I am God’s co-creator
  • I carry God’s mandate to illuminate my world
  • My father and I are in control of every situation

Enjoy your day and see you tomorrow

19-DECEMBER-2024 - SAFE ARRIVAL

THE MAIN THEME:  WHEN DO I GET THERE?

TITLE: SAFE ARRIVAL

The bible verse for today’s devotional is: I Thess 5:24 (NIV)

The one who calls you is faithful, and he will do it.

Devotional:

The question of “when do I get there?” shows that there is a destination we are meant to arrive in and it comes with so much intrigues, demonstrating our belief and trust in God and in our life journey.  Understanding that life is a journey is key to determining how and when we get there.

In the movie “Pilgrim’s Journey”, the pilgrim encountered lots of challenges (hunger, taste, mockery, imprisonment) on his way to the promised gate, just like we do experience some setbacks and distractions today. However, he remained resilient because he believed and trusted that God never promised us an easy journey but a safe destination.  “Lo I am with you to the end”

Jesus said to his disciples “Let not your heart be troubled; believe in God, believe also in me. In my father’s house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. John 14:1-3

The Lord has prepared a place here and in heaven. The question is: will we arrive safely at our various promised lands and at the right time? It takes focus, dedication, hard work, resilience, faith, discipline, consistency.

Here are a few reflective questions:

  • What are the subtle ways the enemy is using to put me off my focus?
  • Do I even know where I am going?
  • Do I know what I want to achieve?

 Let us pray

Lord thank you for your word to me today, I received grace to finish strong. Help me to be consistent with my walk with thee in Jesus name. Amen

Please say these words of affirmation: Say them mean, own them and live them:

  • God knows when I will get there
  • I will never end my journey half way
  • I will fulfil my purpose

Do have an awesome day dear ones, See you tomorrow

18-DECEMBER-2024 - THE SAMSON SYDROME

THE MAIN THEME:  WHEN DO I GET THERE?

TITLE: THE SAMSON SYDROME

The bible verse for today’s devotional is: Judges 14:3 (NIV)

His father and mother replied, “Isn’t there an acceptable woman among your relatives or among all our people? Must you go to the uncircumcised Philistines to get a wife?

Devotional:

The book of Judges chapter 13 to 16 expounds the story of Samson’s birth and death. Despite his extraordinary divine strength, His character exhibited glaring flaws; lack of emotional control, impulsiveness and pride. We need to understand that everything about our life is about God.  We are created and called by him to fulfill a unique purpose. It is only wise to stay connected to Him as our source.

The Samson Syndrome can be deadly when we ignore our heavenly calling by living for our sensual appetites, despising the consecration God requires of us and mingling with people and things we should avoid. Though God is merciful, extending grace and time for us to return, He will not allow us to always walk away unscathed from open disobedience to His word. God’s sovereignty means that He will use our disobedience for His good, while we suffer the consequences. (Samson died with his enemies). God’s plans cannot be thwarted.

Samson’s relationship with God was unhealthy, which impacted his choices. He surrounded himself with unfriendly friends both male and female.

There are those around us to sabotage us, snuff out our light, and make sure we do not fulfil our calling. We need to stay connected to God.

God yearns for our need for Him. Samson's lack of self-control was evident when he lost his focus revealing his secrets to an enemy.  A lifestyle of disobedience and wrong choices grieves the Holy Spirit leading to spiritual blindness. This was what made Samson culpable for more deceptions and manipulation.

Disobedience can hamper when we will get there; when we will achieve purpose.

Here are a few reflective questions:

  • Am I still on track with the purpose and calling God bestowed on me?
  • Am I using the gifts, talents, blessings for God’s purpose?

 Let us pray

Dear Lord, thank you for your word to me today, May the eyes of our understanding be enlightened that we may experience the hope of your calling and the riches of the glory of your inheritance. Amen

Please say these words of affirmation: Say them mean, own them and live them-

  • God knows when I will get there
  • I am capable of guarding my heart from distractions
  • I am in control of my mind.

Enjoy your day and see you tomorrow

17-DECEMBER-2024 - GODS TIMING

THE MAIN THEME:  WHEN DO I GET THERE?

TITLE: GOD’S TIMING

The bible verse for today’s devotional is: Ecclesiastes 3:1 (NIV)

There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens:

Devotional:

The bible records in 1 Chronicles 12:32 that the sons of Isaacha had an ability to discern the time, they had men who understood the times, with knowledge of what Israel should do.  Understanding God’s timing is often essential for appreciating and accepting our experiences. This will help in taking proper actions that would launch us into His perfect will.

Moments when God changes the happenings, circumstances or situations around us demands our attention and submission. God wants us to understand and recognize the divine shifts or seasons in our lives.

The Greek words for time include: Chronos (earthly time), Kairos (a divine appointment), Neos (numerically new), Kainos (unprecedented), Pleroo (fullness of time). It is worth noting that God is in all these timings to perfect His will in our life. To align with God’s timing, we must accept responsibility to do our part, build our trust, activate our faith, hone our flexibility and hold fast to God’s word and promises.

Father Abraham and Sarah experienced God’s timing first hand, against their human timing. Let us remember that God does not work with our schedule, a thousand years is like a day before him, this helps us to accept our period of waiting with more grace and patience.

As we move into our God-ordained destinies, it is reassuring to know that God has already seen the future from the beginning, as we trust and obey him, he makes all things beautiful in his time.

Here are a few reflective questions:

  • Am I putting in my best?
  • Do I trust God’s timing?
  • How do I handle expectations against the realities of life?
  • Do I experience peace in every situation I encounter?

 Let us pray

Lord, I pray for the spirit of discernment and the gift of perspective that aligns with your will for my life. Amen

Please say these words of affirmation: Say them mean, own them and live them-

  • God knows when I will get there.
  • I will learn to appreciate God’s realities.
  • I am able to discern seasons and divine opportunities in my life
  • I will patiently wait until my Help comes

Enjoy your day and see you tomorrow

16-DECEMBER-2024 - CREATING A SUPER LIFESTYLE

THE MAIN THEME: WHEN DO I GET THERE?

TITLE: CREATING A SUPER LIFESTYLE

The bible verse for today’s devotional is:  Luke 16:10 (NIV)
Whoever can be trusted with very little can also be trusted with much, and whoever is dishonest with very little will also be dishonest with much.Whoever can be trusted with very little can also be trusted with much, and whoever is dishonest with very little will also be dishonest with much.

 Devotional:

The desire to be all we can be is in everyone. Sometimes, people may forget or refuse to push through obstacles to get to their desired outcome due to past disappointments. There is an old saying “little drops of water makes a mighty ocean”, in the same way, our everyday thoughts, words and actions contribute to the beautiful story that we are creating with our lives.

Our verse for today ties in nicely with a quote by Martha Beck that says “The way we do anything is the way we do everything.” So how do we position ourselves to be and do our best every day to help us create a super lifestyle?

Creating a super lifestyle means accepting that you are enough, that you deserve the best as God’s creation, it means defining your values and choosing to be guided by your core values, it means committing each day to being and doing the best you can be with what you have and knowing that with each passing day you will get better, its understanding that great things take time so you must trust the process and keep being and doing your best, it's knowing that challenges will come, and choosing to forge ahead, it's knowing that it is okay to take a break and get back into the fight even when you fall, it's knowing that no one else can take your place- that you are unique so you should ride your own tide without trying to undo others, it’s knowing that you are not meant to do it alone so you can ask for help, it's being mindful and enjoying now as you move towards your destiny, it's remembering to stay grateful.

Remember, You are not waiting on the sidelines to be happy only when you have achieved whatever you desire- you should be intentional about celebrating today, as you journey into your glorious tomorrow.  Your super life is now, your super life is tomorrow, and you create all with each thought and action.

Here are a few reflective questions

  • Taking an audit of my day, is there something I do or say that is not moving me close to my goals?
  • What positive thing can I replace it with?

Let Us Pray:

Dear God, I am grateful that your plans for me are plans of good. Help me align with your plan and be my best and do my best each day in Jesus’ name. Amen.

Please say these words of affirmation. Say them, mean them, own them, and live them:

  • God knows when I will get there
  • I am more than enough
  • I deserve all the good that you have planned for me

Do have a fulfilling day. Take good care of yourself and see you tomorrow!
