11-MAY-2025 - FAILURE AND HUMILITY

THE MAIN THEME: FAILING FORWARD

TITLE: FAILURE AND HUMILITY

Our bible verse for today’s devotional is: James 4:6 (NIV):
"But he gives us more grace. That is why Scripture says:“God opposes the proud
but shows favor to the humble.’"

Devotional:
Failure has a way of humbling us. It strips away our pride and reminds us that we don’t have all the answers. But here’s the good news—humility is a powerful key to growth.

Imagine a student who always scores the highest in class. One day, they fail an important test. At first, they felt embarrassed, but then they realised something—they had stopped studying as hard because they thought they knew everything. That failure, though painful, teaches them the value of humility. Instead of giving up, they choose to learn and improve.

Throughout history, many great people have faced failure. Thomas Edison failed thousands of times before inventing the light bulb. Nelson Mandela was imprisoned for years before leading South Africa to freedom. What did they have in common? Humility. They didn’t let failure define them. Instead, they embraced their setbacks, learned from them, and kept moving forward.

In the Bible, Peter failed when he denied Jesus three times. Yet, he humbled himself before God instead of running from his mistake. That humility led to his restoration and influential role in building the early church.

Failure is not the end—it is a reminder that we are always learning. It humbles us so we can grow. When we embrace humility, we open the door to wisdom, resilience, and success.

Here are a few reflective questions:

  1. How has failure humbled me in the past?
  2. Do I see failure as a lesson or as an identity? Why?
  3. How can humility help me become a better person?
  4. What is one failure I can learn from today?

Let us pray:
Dear Lord, thank You for the lessons that failure teaches me. Help me see failure not as a defeat but as a chance to grow. Give me the humility to learn from my mistakes and the strength to move forward. Amen.

Please say these words of affirmation after me. Say them, mean them, own them, and live them:

  1. I embrace failure as a stepping stone to success.
  2. Humility allows me to learn and grow.
  3. My mistakes do not define me—God’s grace does.
  4. Every setback is a setup for a greater comeback.

Stay humble, keep learning, and never stop growing! I’ll see you tomorrow!

10-MAY-2025 - FAILURE – A PART OF SUCCESS

THE MAIN THEME:  FAILING FORWARD

TITLE:  FAILURE – A PART OF SUCCESS

The bible verse for today’s devotional is: James 1:2-3 (NIV)

“Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters,[a] whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance.”

Devotional

Success isn’t always a straight line. Sometimes, the road to victory is filled with obstacles, setbacks, and failures. We often think of successful people as those who got everything right on the first try, but the truth is, they are simply those who learned how to keep going, even after falling. Failure is a part of the process, not the end of the journey.

Let me share a short story that might help explain this better:

The Story of Thomas Edison and the Lightbulb

Thomas Edison, the famous inventor, is known for creating the lightbulb, a groundbreaking invention that changed the world. However, his journey to success wasn’t a smooth one.

Before he successfully invented the lightbulb, Edison had to face hundreds of failures. In fact, he failed over 1,000 times while trying to find the right filament to make the bulb work. Imagine that—over 1,000 attempts! At one point, someone asked him how it felt to fail so many times. Edison simply smiled and said, “I have not failed. I’ve just found 1,000 ways that won’t work.”

Edison didn’t see each failure as a reason to give up; he saw it as an opportunity to learn, adjust, and keep going. With each mistake, he got closer to success. Eventually, his persistence paid off, and the lightbulb was born.

Edison’s story shows us that failure isn’t something to be afraid of or ashamed of. It’s a part of the journey to success. If Edison had stopped after his first, fifth, or even 500th attempt, he never would have created the lightbulb that changed the world. Each failure was not a sign that he was unfit for success, but a sign that he was one step closer to getting it right.

The same is true for us. Whether it's in school, relationships, or personal goals, failure is not the end. It’s simply a lesson in disguise, showing us what doesn’t work so that we can find what does. The key is to keep going. It’s not about how many times you fall, but about how many times you get back up.

This is how to embrace Failure as Part of Success:

See Failure as a Lesson: Every time you fail, ask yourself what you can learn from the experience. What can you do differently next time? Each mistake helps you grow and become better.

Don’t Let Failure Define You: Failing doesn’t make you a failure. It just means you haven’t succeeded yet. Keep going, and don't let setbacks discourage you

Stay Persistent: Success requires persistence. Keep showing up, even when it feels like nothing is working. Like Edison, your next attempt could be the one that leads to success.

Trust God’s Timing: Sometimes we want success immediately, but God’s timing is perfect. Trust that He has a plan for you and that even the setbacks are part of His purpose.

Here are a few reflective questions;

  1. How have past failures helped me grow or improve?
  2. What is one thing I can do differently the next time I face failure?

Let us pray:

Lord, thank You for reminding me that failure is not the end but a stepping stone toward success. Help me to learn from my mistakes and keep moving forward with faith and determination. Amen.

Please say these words of affirmation after me. Say them, mean them, own them, and live them:

  • Failure is not final; it is a lesson that moves me closer to success.
  • God is using every challenge in my life to shape me into the person He created me to be.

Enjoy your day, while I see you, tomorrow.

09-MAY-2025 - FAILING IS NOT FINAL

THE MAIN THEME: FAILING FORWARD

TITLE: FAILING IS NOT FINAL

Our quote for today’s devotional is:

"Our greatest glory is not in never failing, but in rising every time we fall."

- Confucius

Devotional

Failing feels like the end, but in God’s plan, it is only a chapter, not the conclusion. Some of the most successful people in history failed many times before they got it right. The difference between those who succeed and those who don’t is the willingness to rise again.

Look at Peter—he denied Jesus three times, but instead of staying in guilt, he repented, received grace, and became a pillar of the early church. His failure did not define him—his response did.

If you have failed, do not quit. Get up, learn, and move forward. God still has great plans for you!

Here are a few reflective questions:

  1. Have I allowed past failures to define me?

  2. What can I learn from my most recent setback?

  3. How can I shift my mindset to see failure as part of the process?

Let us pray

Lord, I thank You that my failures are not final. Give me the strength to rise again and the wisdom to learn from my mistakes. I trust that You are leading me toward something greater. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Please say these words of affirmation after me. Say them, mean them, own them, and live them:

  • I may fall, but I will rise again.
  • God’s plan for my life is still unfolding.
  • I learn and grow from every experience.
  • My failures are not the end; they are a new beginning.

Do have a fulfilling day. Take good care of yourself and see you tomorrow!

08-MAY-2025 - FAILING IN RELATIONSHIPS

THE MAIN THEME: FAILING FORWARD

TITLE: FAILING IN RELATIONSHIPS

Our bible verse for today’s devotional is: Ephesians 4:32 (NIV)

“Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.”

Devotional

Friendships and relationships don’t always go the way we hope. Maybe you had a disagreement with your best friend, felt betrayed by someone you trusted, or experienced the pain of being left out. Relationship failures can be some of the hardest to deal with because they affect our hearts.

When relationships break, it is easy to feel like something is wrong with you. You might wonder, Was I not good enough? Did I mess everything up? But here’s the truth. Just because a relationship failed doesn’t mean you are a failure.

Even Jesus, who was perfect, experienced broken relationships. Judas, one of His disciples, betrayed Him. Peter denied Him. Many people turned away from Him. Yet, Jesus still loved, forgave, and continued His mission. He didn’t let rejection or relationship failures define Him, and neither should you.

Sometimes, relationships fail because of misunderstandings, mistakes, or simply because people grow apart. Whatever the reason, God calls us to respond with love, forgiveness, and wisdom. Some relationships can be mended with time and effort. Others may need to end, but that doesn’t mean you are unworthy of love or good friendships. God is always with you, and He can heal your heart, bring the right people into your life, and teach you valuable lessons along the way.

Here are a few reflective questions:

  1. Have I ever experienced a broken friendship or relationship? How did it affect me?
  2. How can I respond with grace and forgiveness, even when it’s hard?
  3. What can I learn from past relationship challenges to build healthier ones in the future?

Let us pray

Dear God, when I feel hurt or rejected, remind me that my worth comes from You, not from others. Help me to forgive, heal, and trust You with my friendships. Bring the right people into my life, and help me be a good friend to others. Amen.

Please say these words of affirmation after me. Say them, mean them, own them, and live them:

  • I am not defined by broken relationships.
  • I am loved, valued, and capable of building strong, healthy connections.

Have a lovely day connecting positively. I’ll see y’all tomorrow.

07-MAY-2025 - FAILING FORWARD LIKE PETER

THE MAIN THEME:  FAILING FORWARD

TITLE: FAILING FORWARD LIKE PETER

Our bible verse for today’s devotional is: Luke 22:32 (NIV)
"But I have prayed for you, Simon, that your faith may not fail. And when you have turned back, strengthen your brothers." –

Devotional:
Failure can feel like the end, but with God, it’s often the beginning of something greater. One of the most powerful stories of failure and redemption in the Bible is that of Peter.

Peter was one of Jesus’ closest disciples, full of passion and boldness. He was the one who stepped out of the boat to walk on water, declared Jesus as the Son of God, and promised to stand by Him no matter what. Yet, when faced with fear, Peter denied Jesus three times. Imagine his guilt and shame. He had failed—publicly and painfully.

But Peter’s story didn’t end with his failure. After Jesus' resurrection, He restored Peter, reminding him of his purpose: to feed His sheep (John 21:17). Instead of letting failure define him, Peter allowed it to refine him. He became a leader in the early church, boldly preaching and bringing thousands to Christ.

Like Peter, we will stumble. We will have moments where fear, doubt, or mistakes seem to take over. But failure is not final unless we let it be. God can use our failures to teach us, strengthen us, and position us for greater things. If we learn from them, we can fail forward—growing stronger and wiser.

Here are a few reflective questions:

  1. Have I ever felt like I failed God or myself? How did I handle it?
  2. What lessons can I learn from Peter’s story about failure and restoration?
  3. How can I use past failures as stepping stones instead of stumbling blocks?
  4. In what ways do I see God giving me a second chance in life?

Let us pray:
Dear Lord, thank You for Your grace that turns failures into stepping stones. Help me to see failure as an opportunity to grow and trust You more. Like Peter, restore and strengthen me to move forward in faith and fulfil my purpose. Amen.

Please say these words of affirmation after me. Say them, mean them, own them, and live them:

  1. My failures do not define me—God’s grace does.
  2. I learn and grow from every mistake I make.
  3. Failure is not the end but a setup for a greater comeback.
  4. God is working in me, and I will not give up.

Trusting that God can turn your lowest moments into powerful testimonies. I’ll see you tomorrow!
