10-DECEMBER-2024 - THE RAT RACE

THE MAIN THEME: WHEN DO I GET THERE?

TITLE: THE RAT RACE

The quote for today’s devotional is:

The problem with the rat race is that, even when you win, you are still a rat.

  • Jane Wagner

Devotional:

In a world that often glorifies busyness and relentless ambition, we find ourselves caught in what is often referred to as the "rat race." The pressure to hurry, achieve, and constantly strive for more can be overwhelming. We become so focused on reaching the next milestone that we forget to pause and reflect on our achievements and true purpose.

The world tells us to hurry, to achieve, to keep striving for more. But God calls us to run a different race—one where we seek progress, not perfection. The rat race will leave you exhausted and empty, but a life of progress over perfection brings fulfilment and peace.

Remember that it's not about the speed at which we achieve our goals, but about the richness of the experiences we gather along the way. By seeking to progress in our personal and spiritual lives, we can find joy in the journey itself, rather than just the destination.

Also remember, the rat race seeks for more, and you may keep asking, “when do I get there? This may make you unmindful of the progress and milestones you have achieved.

Be mindful of the rat race of life.

Here are a few reflective questions:

  • Am I in the rat race of life?
  • Am I constantly busy, running, chasing without pausing to reflect or relax?
  • What practices can I incorporate into my daily life to foster a sense of peace and contentment?

Let Us Pray:
Heavenly Father, Thank You for reminding me that my worth is not defined by how fast I run in this world but by the purpose You have placed in my heart. Help me to step back from the rat race and focus on my unique journey. Renew my strength and give me the peace that comes from knowing that I am exactly where I need to be.

Please say these words of affirmation. Say them, mean them, own them and live them:

  • God knows when I will get there.
  • I have a plan, I will follow it
  • I won’t allow myself to be under the pressure of life

Dear lovelies, do not be anxious but carefully follow your plan. I’ll see you tomorrow.

09-DECEMBER-2024 - THE DANGERS OF YOUR COMFORT ZONE

THE MAIN THEME: WHEN DO I GET THERE?

TITLE: THE DANGERS OF YOUR COMFORT ZONE

The bible verse for today’s devotional is: Jeremiah 29:11 (NIV)

For I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.

Devotional:

The comfort zone is a familiar and safe space where we often feel at ease. However, it can also be a dangerous place that limits our growth and potential. When we become too comfortable, we may find ourselves stagnating, missing out on opportunities for development and deeper fulfillment.

God has plans for us that extend beyond our comfort zones. These plans may involve challenges and risks, but they are designed to help us grow, learn, and flourish. Stepping outside our comfort zone can be daunting, yet it is often in these moments of discomfort that we discover our true strengths and capabilities.

While it may be tempting to stay within the confines of what is comfortable, we are called to embrace the unknown and trust in God's guidance. Growth occurs when we challenge ourselves, take risks, and explore new paths.

Let me close with these quotes:

“All progress take place outside the comfort zone” - Anonymous

“In the absence of a challenge, there is comfort. In the presence of comfort, there is no change.” — Matt LeMond

These quotes reveal that staying in our comfort zones will result in no progress or change. This further jeopardizes our main theme: ‘When do we get there’

Here are a few reflective questions:

  • Am I in my comfort zone?
  • In what areas of my life do I feel stuck in my comfort zone?
  • What fears or beliefs are holding me back from stepping outside my comfort zone?
  • What opportunities have I missed by remaining too comfortable?

Let Us Pray:
Dear Lord, Thank You for the plans You have for my life. Help me to recognize the dangers of staying in my comfort zone and to find the courage to step outside of it. May I be open to the growth and experiences that await me as I venture beyond what is familiar.

Please say these words of affirmation. Say them, mean them, own them and live them:

  • God knows when I will get there
  • I am willing to step outside my comfort zone for growth.
  • I embrace discomfort as a pathway to new experiences.
  • I trust in God’s plan for my future and take steps toward it.

Do have a fulfilling day. Take good care of yourself and see you tomorrow!

08-DECEMBER-2024 - THE EFFECT OF PURPOSE WITHOUT IMPACT

THE MAIN THEME: WHEN DO I GET THERE?

TITLE: THE EFFECT OF PURPOSE WITHOUT IMPACT

The bible verse for today’s devotional is: Ephesians 2:10 (NIV)

For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.

Devotional:

Purpose is a powerful motivator in our lives. It gives us direction, ignites our passion, and drives our actions. However, having a purpose without the tangible impact can lead to frustration and a sense of unfulfillment. God created each of us with a unique calling and designed us to do good works that not only fulfill our purpose but also benefit those around us.

The challenge lies in ensuring that our purpose translates into meaningful actions that create a positive impact in our communities and the world. It is essential to reflect on how we can align our daily actions with our purpose, ensuring that we contribute to the greater good and make a difference.

On your journey of purpose and impact, choose to be mindful of the opportunities around us to serve others. Small acts of kindness, encouragement, and support can have profound effects, and translate our purpose into a force for good.

Your life is not about you alone.

Here are a few reflective questions:

  • How does my daily action align with my current purpose and the impact I want to make?
  • What small steps can I take today to ensure my purpose leads to meaningful impact?
  • How can I encourage others to embrace their purpose while making an impact?

Let Us Pray:
Dear Lord, thank You for the purpose You have instilled within me. Grant me the wisdom to see opportunities to serve and the courage to act upon them. May my life reflect Your love and goodness, and may I inspire others to embrace their purpose and make a difference. Amen.

Please say these words of affirmation. Say them, mean them, own them and live them:

  • God knows when I will get there.
  • I am committed to living my purpose with intention and impact.
  • I have the power to make a positive difference in the lives of others.
  • I embrace opportunities to serve and uplift those around me.
  • I trust that my purpose will bear fruit in meaningful ways.

Do have a fulfilling day. Take good care of yourself and see you tomorrow!

07-DECEMBER-2024 - CONNECTING THE DOTS

THE MAIN THEME: WHEN DO I GET THERE?

TITLE: CONNECTING THE DOTS

The quote for today’s devotional is:

Wisdom is like a baobab tree; no one individual can embrace it.

– Akan and Ewe

Devotional:
Connecting the dots on life’s journey is a journey towards wisdom and understanding. The baobab tree, known for its immense size and longevity, symbolizes the vastness and complexity of wisdom. Just as no single person can fully embrace the baobab tree in all its grandeur, no one individual can possess complete wisdom on their own. Instead, wisdom is cultivated through a collective journey, shaped by shared experiences, insights, and perspectives.

In our lives, we often encounter challenges, questions, and uncertainties that prompt us to seek wisdom. It is through engaging with others—listening to their stories, learning from their experiences, and sharing our own—that we begin to connect the dots. Each conversation, each shared moment of understanding, adds another branch to our understanding of life.

When we acknowledge that wisdom is a communal asset, we become more open to learning from those around us. We recognize that everyone we meet has a unique perspective shaped by their experiences, and these contributions enrich our own understanding.

Connecting the dots involves more than just recognizing patterns in our own lives; it also means understanding how our experiences intersect with those of others. This will help us gain a fuller understanding of our circumstances, motivations, and potential paths forward.               .

Here are a few reflective questions:

  • How have my interactions with others shaped my understanding of wisdom?
  • In what ways can I contribute to the wisdom of my community by sharing my experiences?
  • How can I cultivate a mindset that values the wisdom of others in my journey?

Let Us Pray:

Lord, guide me as I navigate my journey, help me to see the bigger picture and to embrace the idea that I am never alone in my struggles or triumphs. May I find strength in collaboration and joy in the shared wisdom of those around me.

Please say these words of affirmation. Say them, mean them, own them and live them:

  • God knows when I will get there.
  • I embrace the beauty of community and the insights it brings.
  • I listen with an open heart, and value the perspectives of those around me.
  • I contribute my unique experiences to the collective wisdom of my community.

Do have a fulfilling day. Take good care of yourself and see you tomorrow!

06-DECEMBER-2024 - EMBRACING PROGRESS OVER PERFECTIONEMBRACING PROGRESS OVER PERFECTION

THE MAIN THEME: WHEN DO I GET THERE?

TITLE: EMBRACING PROGRESS OVER PERFECTION

The quote for today’s devotional is: "Little by little, the bird builds its nest."

— African Proverb

Devotional:
This African proverb beautifully captures the essence of consistent effort and patience in our journey toward growth. Have you ever seen a bird trying to build its nest? It gathers twigs, leaves, and other materials, slowly and methodically. These bits and pieces come together to form a beautiful and intricate design which later houses the bird. We too can approach our personal and spiritual development one step at a time. The process of building a nest takes time and diligence, our reminder that meaningful results are often achieved through gradual, persistent effort.

While we live in a world that often prioritizes quick results and instant gratification, this proverb is a powerful reminder that true growth is a journey.

Dear friends, be encouraged to embrace each small step, no matter how insignificant it may seem, because these steps accumulate over time and lead to significant achievements.

Perfection is not the goal; rather, it's the progress we make, the lessons we learn, and the experiences we gather along the way that define our paths.

Here are a few reflective questions:

  • What small steps can I take today toward my goals, even if they seem insignificant?
  • How can I remind myself that growth is a journey, and it's okay to not have everything figured out immediately?
  • In what areas of my life have I been seeking immediate results instead of appreciating the gradual process?

Let Us Pray:
Heavenly Father, thank you for reminding me that growth is a journey, not a race. Help me to embrace each step with gratitude, trusting that you are guiding my path. When I feel discouraged, remind me that you are working in me, even through the small, daily progress I make.

Please say these words of affirmation. Say them, mean them, own them and live them:

  • God knows when I will get there.
  • I am growing every day, even in my imperfections.
  • I celebrate progress, not perfection, in my journey.
  • I trust the process of growth, knowing that I am becoming who I am meant to be.

Do have a fulfilling day. Take good care of yourself and see you tomorrow!
