19-JANUARY-2025 - NETWORKING EFFECTIVELY

THE MAIN THEME: WHO DO I GO WITH?

TITLE: NETWORKING EFFECTIVELY

The quote for today’s devotional is:
"It’s not what you know, but who you know—and who knows you." – Harvey Mackay

Devotional:
Networking isn’t just about collecting business cards or gaining contacts; it’s about building meaningful relationships that can open doors to opportunities, knowledge, and growth. Effective networking means connecting with people authentically, sharing mutual value, and cultivating trust. It’s a skill that can shape your future and help you achieve your goals.

Consider Oprah Winfrey, a global icon who is known not only for her talent but also for her ability to connect deeply with others. Through meaningful relationships and collaborations, she expanded her influence and created impactful opportunities for herself and others. Oprah’s journey underscores the importance of genuine connections in achieving success.

Effective networking involves more than surface-level interactions; it requires active listening, a willingness to help others, and consistent follow-up. Whether it’s in your school, workplace, or community, networking is a two-way street. By offering support and being open to learning, you create a network of allies who can help you navigate challenges and celebrate victories.

Here are a few reflective questions:

  1. What steps can I take to build authentic connections in my personal or professional life?
  2. How can I add value to the relationships within my network?
  3. Are there opportunities to connect with people who inspire or challenge me?
  4. How can I maintain and nurture my current relationships effectively?

Let us pray:

Lord, thank You for the connections You bring into my life. Teach me to network with integrity and build meaningful relationships that align with my purpose. Amen.

Please say these words of affirmation after me. Say them, mean them, own them, and live them:

  • I network effectively by building genuine and meaningful connections.
  • I bring value to my relationships and create opportunities for mutual growth and success.

Go do some effective networking today. Take good care of yourself and I’ll see you tomorrow!

18-JANUARY-2025 - MY VALUES AND MY FRIENDS

THE MAIN THEME: WHO DO I GO WITH?

TITLE: MY VALUES AND MY FRIENDS

The bible verse for today’s devotional is: 1 Corinthians 15:33 (NIV)

Do not be misled: ‘Bad company corrupts good character.

Devotional:
Our values shape who we are and guide our decisions, including the choice of friends. Friendships have a powerful influence on our lives—they can either build us up or lead us astray. If we surround ourselves with people whose actions and beliefs align with our values, we’re more likely to grow and thrive. On the other hand, keeping close relationships with those who disregard our principles can cause us to compromise and stray from our purpose.

Think about Daniel and his three friends, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego. They shared a strong commitment to God and encouraged each other to stay true to their faith, even in the face of danger. Their shared values gave them the strength to resist the pressures of Babylonian culture and stand firm in their beliefs. This example reminds us of the importance of choosing friends who uphold and reinforce our values.

Your values act as a compass, guiding you toward what is right and meaningful. Surrounding yourself with friends who respect and reflect these values helps you stay true to who you are, even when challenges arise.

Here are a few reflective questions:

  1. Do my current friendships align with my core values?
  2. How do my friends influence my decisions and behaviors?
  3. Are there relationships I need to adjust or let go of to protect my values?

Let us pray:

Lord, help me to choose friends who honor and respect the values You’ve placed in my heart.

Teach me to be a good friend and surround me with people who inspire and encourage me to

walk in Your truth. Guide me in nurturing meaningful and uplifting relationships. Amen.

Please say these words of affirmation after me. Say them, mean them, own them, and live them:

  • I surround myself with friends who respect my values and inspire me to grow.
  • I choose relationships that reflect integrity, kindness, and purpose, and I stay true to the principles that guide my life.
  • I am kind, gentle, trustworthy and I have integrity

Do have an awe-mazing day. Take good care of yourself and I’ll see you tomorrow!

17-JANUARY-2025 - DONT FORGET YOURSELF

THE MAIN THEME: WHO DO I GO WITH?

TITLE: DON'T FORGET YOURSELF

The quote for today’s devotional is:

You are as important as the company you keep. Walk with those who nurture your journey.

  • Unknown

Devotional:
Life is a series of journeys, every step is influenced by who we walk with. The people we surround ourselves with can either uplift us or drain us. It’s easy to get caught up in relationships, commitments, or expectations that take from us without replenishing.

When choosing who to walk with, remember that God calls us to steward our lives wisely, including our relationships. Prioritize companions who remind you to care for yourself, encourage your growth, and align with your values.

You matter in the equation. Be mindful not to lose yourself in trying to fit into someone else's path.

Here are a few reflective questions:

  • Who am I going with, and are they leading me closer to my purpose or further from it.
  • Are my closest companions encouraging my well-being and personal growth?
  • How do the relationships in my life reflect God's plan for me?
  • Am I surrounding myself with people who honor and remind me to care for myself?

Let Us Pray:
Dear Lord, thank You for placing people in my life who encourage me to grow and take care of myself. Help me discern who to walk with, so my relationships bring life, peace, and alignment with Your purpose. Amen.

Please say these words of affirmation after me. Say them, mean them, own them and live them:

  • I walk with those who honor my journey and God’s plan for me.
  • I choose companions who inspire care, growth, and love in my life.
  • I release relationships that drain me and embrace those that build me up.
  • I am worthy of walking with people who nurture my soul.

Do have beautiful day, dear ones. I’ll see you tomorrow.

16-JANUARY-2025 - DISCOVERING ULTERIOR MOTIVES

THE MAIN THEME: WHO DO I GO WITH?

TITLE: DISCOVERING ULTERIOR MOTIVES

The bible verse for today’s devotional is: Matthew 7:16a (NIV)

By their fruit you will recognize them.

Devotional:
Choosing the right companions for life’s journey requires more than assessing outward appearances or words; it requires discernment. Jesus Himself modeled this. While He welcomed all, He also knew the hearts of those around Him. He understood who was genuine and who had ulterior motives.

People may walk with you for various reasons—some pure, some self-serving. It’s not always easy to spot motives immediately, but God grants us wisdom to discern. Pray for clarity, observe their actions, and pay attention to patterns. Genuine companions uplift, encourage, and align with your values and purpose.

Here are a few reflective questions:

  • What "fruit" have I noticed in the actions of those closest to me?
  • Are there any relationships in my life that need closer discernment?
  • How can I rely more on God to guide me in identifying true companions?

Let Us Pray:
Heavenly Father, thank You for being my light and guide. I ask for Your wisdom to discern the true motives of those I walk with. Teach me to see beyond appearances and recognize the fruit of their lives. Protect me from harm and guide me toward relationships that reflect Your love and truth. Amen.

Please say these words of affirmation after me. Say them, mean them, own them and live them:

  • I trust God to reveal the true nature of those around me.
  • I walk with people who bear good fruit in their lives.
  • I have wisdom and discernment in my relationships.

Do have a fulfilling day. Take good care of yourself and see you tomorrow!

15-JANUARY-2025 - DECODING FRIENDLY FOES

THE MAIN THEME: WHO DO I GO WITH?

TITLE: DECODING FRIENDLY FOES

The bible verse for today’s devotional is: Proverbs 27:6 (NIV)

Wounds from a friend can be trusted, but an enemy multiplies kisses.

Devotional:
Not everyone who smiles at you or offers a helping hand is genuinely on your side. Some people appear to be friends but secretly harbor intentions that can harm or mislead you. Friendly foes—individuals who disguise ill intentions under the pretense of friendship—can often be the most dangerous, as they gain your trust before causing harm. Learning to discern between true friends and friendly foes is critical for navigating relationships and making wise choices about who to journey through life with.

Take Judas Iscariot, for instance. He was one of Jesus’ disciples, someone trusted with the group’s finances and privy to Christ's teachings. Yet, his greed and deceit led him to betray Jesus with a kiss—a seemingly friendly act that had devastating consequences. This story reminds us that actions don’t always reflect intentions, and discernment is key to identifying who truly has our best interests at heart.

True friends encourage, uplift, and correct you with love, even when uncomfortable. Friendly foes, however, may flatter you, manipulate situations, or secretly compete with you. Asking for God’s wisdom and observing people’s actions over time can help you decode who genuinely supports you and might be a "friendly foe."

Here are a few reflective questions:

  1. Are there relationships in my life that feel more draining than uplifting?
  2. How can I develop discernment to identify true friends versus friendly foes?
  3. What boundaries can I set to protect my peace and purpose?

Let us pray:
Lord, give me the wisdom to discern between true friends and those who mean harm. Help me build relationships that honor You and remove any influences that hinder my growth and purpose. Guide me to walk with those who genuinely support and uplift me. Amen.

Please say these words of affirmation after me. Say them, mean them, own them and live them:

  • I choose to surround myself with genuine, supportive relationships.
  • With God’s wisdom, I discern between true friends and those who disguise ill intentions.
  • I walk confidently with people who uplift and inspire me.

Do have a fulfilling day. Take good care of yourself and see you tomorrow!
