THE MAIN THEME: STANDING OUT
TITLE: BE THE CHANGE YOU WANT
The bible verse for today’s devotional is: Romans 12:21 (NIV)
"Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good."
Devotional
It’s easy to point out what’s wrong with the world—unfairness, hate, pressure, fake friendships, broken systems. You may look around and think, “Why doesn’t someone do something?” But what if you are that someone?
Change doesn’t start with noise—it starts with courage.
It begins when you stop waiting for someone else to take the lead and decide to be the example, the voice, the difference.
Being the change means choosing love in a culture of judgment. It means speaking up when others stay silent. It means doing what’s right, even when it’s not popular. It’s not about being perfect—it’s about being willing.
Jesus didn’t just talk about change. He lived it. He forgave, healed, uplifted, and restored. And now, He invites you to do the same—right where you are, with what you have.
You may be young, but you are not powerless. Your kindness can shift an atmosphere. Your choices can set a new standard. Your faith can ignite a movement. God has placed you here not to complain about the darkness, but to shine your light.
So don’t wait for change. Be it.
Even the smallest act done in love echoes louder than the loudest criticism.
Ife’s Story –
Ife was a 15-year-old high school student who often complained about how negative and toxic the atmosphere in her school had become. Bullying was common, students rarely supported one another, and gossip spread faster than truth.
One day, after hearing a message in the youth church about being a light, Ife felt convicted. She realized that constantly pointing out what was wrong wasn’t helping—it was time to do something.
She started small:
- Smiling and greeting classmates she had never spoken to before.
- Leaving kind notes anonymously in lockers.
- Starting a “Kindness Wall” where students could write affirming words about one another.
- Reporting bullying, not ignoring it.
At first, people thought she was doing too much. But slowly, her actions caught on. Her class teacher took notice and nominated her to lead a student wellbeing group. More students started participating. The culture began to shift—and it all started with one girl who chose to be the change.
Ife didn’t wait for a title, a spotlight, or a perfect moment. She just started where she was, with what she had.
And God multiplied her courage into a movement of kindness.
You can be the change the world needs today from Complainer to Changemaker
Here are a few reflective questions:
- What kind of change do I desire to see in my school, family, or community?
- What can I start doing today—no matter how small—to reflect that change?
- Am I living in a way that inspires others or just observing from the sidelines?
- What fears must I overcome to become a bold example of change?
Let us Pray:
Thank You for calling me to be a changemaker in a world that needs hope, truth, and love. Help me to stop waiting and start acting. Let my life reflect the kind of change I want to see. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Please say these words of affirmation after me. Say them, mean them, own them and live them
- I am a light.
- I lead by example.
- I create change.
Dear world changers, I’ll see you tomorrow.
