29-MAY-2025 - YOU ARE NOT YOUR MISTAKES
THE MAIN THEME: FAILING FORWARD
TITLE: YOU ARE NOT YOUR MISTAKES
Our bible verse for today’s devotional is Proverbs 24:16 (NIV):
"For though the righteous fall seven times, they rise again, but the wicked stumble when calamity strikes."
Devotional:
Have you ever made a mistake so big that you thought it defined you? Maybe you failed a test, lost a friendship, or disappointed someone you cared about. It's easy to feel your mistakes are who you are in those moments. But that’s not the truth.
Imagine an artist painting a masterpiece. Do they throw away the whole canvas if they make a wrong stroke? No! They either correct it or turn it into something even better. In the same way, God doesn’t discard us because of our mistakes. Instead, He uses them to shape us into who we are meant to be.
Think of people who made mistakes but still fulfilled their purpose—Moses doubted himself, David messed up big time, and Peter denied Jesus three times. But did their mistakes define them? No. They learned, grew, and became great leaders.
Your mistakes don’t determine your worth—God does. Instead of dwelling on past failures, ask yourself, what can I learn from this? How can I grow? The key is to rise, not to remain stuck. You are not your past, and you are not your mistakes.
Here are a few reflective questions:
- Have I ever let a mistake make me feel unworthy? How did it affect my confidence?
- What is one lesson I’ve learned from a past mistake?
- How can I remind myself that failure is an event, not an identity?
- What steps can I take to move forward instead of dwelling on past mistakes?
Let us pray:
Dear Lord, thank You for loving me beyond my mistakes. Help me to see failures as lessons and not labels. Give me the strength to rise after every fall and the wisdom to grow from every setback. Amen.
Please say these words of affirmation after me. Say them, mean them, own them, and live them:
- I am not my mistakes—I am God’s masterpiece.
- Every mistake is an opportunity to learn and grow.
- My past does not define me; my purpose does.
- I rise stronger, wiser, and better after every setback.
Your story is still being written, and it will be amazing! I’L see you tomorrow!
